Restaurant Vægterkælderen Esbjerg

Ok food. Young but pleasant and attentive service.

Vi bestilte luksus stjerneskud og moules frites. Begge dele smagte dejligt (især stjerneskuddet var virkelig godt) og betjeningen var god. God placering også. Tip: spis først i vægterkælderen og tag derefter med vægteren på aftentur. Det er en stemningsfuld, gratis sightseeing tur i byen.

Everything was just perfect, even though it was completely full and really busy: Super service and fast and friendly service. We ordered fish n' chips, shooting stars and a burger - and it was all really deliciously arranged and prepared. We would love to come here again.

Vi sad udenfor, da vejret var godt, og vi havde et sovende barn i klapvogn. Betjeningen er god og opmærksom. De har styr på det. Vi var fem voksne og bestilte fem forskellige retter. En person fik ikke først det, der var bestilt, men inden vi nåede at sige noget, kom tjeneren tilbage og sagde, at der vist var sket en fejl. Den rigtige mad blev serveret meget hurtigt derefter. Al maden var meget velsmagende. Personligt fik jeg en rigtig god og stor kartoffelmad. At kalde det en let ret er dog nok ikke helt rigtigt. Alt i alt en god frokost.

We ate lunch at Resturent vätterkellerden today, it was nice weather so we sat outside as there are excellent outdoor facilities, with live flowers on the table. The staff are experienced, friendly and have control over service. We were 2 people who both ordered fish and chips, we both can only recommend this dish which tastes heavenly and is well prepared, if you ask us, it is served with plenty of fries.

We got a 4-course menu which was a feast for the eyes, but the taste was a little too anonymous for my taste. The place, Denmark's oldest hotel, was a nice experience, and a guard actually came by while we were eating there! We also got the wine menu, and it was well matched to the food.

The stars speak for themselves. The portions were good, however we found the burgers to be tasteless. A portobello dressing and some pickled fennel, which in their own form tasted good, but put together in the burger it was just a boring experience. The ball was in the same ballpark, a bit dry and boring. On the other hand, the fritters were super good and the dip complemented the dish really well. The crispness and taste of the fritters was a clear winner and helped lift the meal a bit.
