Nice and clean room, good service and great breakfast bufe

I have been to Esbjerg on business trips several times. I have stayed in almost all other options within the vicinity. For me, though, Scandic Olympic works best and here's why. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood between the harbour and the centre withing walking distance to both. There is a charging station (Type 2) right across from the hotel where free parking is also possible. The check-in procedure is smooth; staff members are professional and friendly. One may consider the rooms a bit on the small scale, but I think the way they are set up works well. Some bathrooms are a little small, especially the wash basins, but hey, I can live with that. The rooms are air-conditioned and have windows for fresh air (only to be used when AC is set to very low). The duvets are not too hot (as is the case with the competition); the pillows are comfortable offering good support. The very strong point goes to the breakfast. The breakfast area is very nicely set up, with dimmed lights and discreet music playing (not blasting) in the background. The breakfast offered is exactly what one would expect in such establishment: The breads are all of very good quality, the rolls are delicious and there is lots of Swedish crispbread offered as well. Both coffee machines produce excellent java. All in all, I can highly recommend Scandic Olympic for a relaxing stay with a good-night sleep.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to use the accommodation booked at the Scandic Olympic Hotel. Despite numerous requests a week in advance, the hotel manager refused to cancel the reservation and refund the money. UPDATE: I finally managed to partially enjoy my stay, so I'm posting an update of my opinion)

An excellent hotel for a night or 2.... Was in town in Esbjerg and needed a place to stay, got a good room on the 6th floor with a good view. The price is good Close to town Good parking

Friendly, clean, very pleasant stay, but overpriced. This was our second time at this hotel, and once again we were extremely satisfied. The hotel is located just a few hundred meters from the pedestrian zone, and the train station is only about a 1.5 km walk away. Check-in was very quick, and the receptionist spoke English. The entire check-in process was extremely friendly and personal, not at all the businesslike and impersonal you often experience in better hotels. We had a room on the top floor with a fantastic view of the harbor and the ferries to Fanø. The room was a good size, clean, offered ample storage space for our luggage, and the window could be opened. Street noise was minimal and not bothersome. However, some signs of wear and tear were noticeable. The beds were soft and comfortable, and there was a power outlet next to the bed. The bathroom was also spotless, with a large, walk-in shower. The breakfast buffet was very extensive and offered everything you would expect these days. ... The only slightly annoying thing is the parking situation. There are a few free parking spaces next to the hotel, but they fill up quickly. The signs indicate paid parking, but you can give your license plate number to reception and then you're safe from a ticket. There's also a paid underground parking garage, or you can park down on Adgangsvejen, but then you have to carry your luggage up the stairs to the hotel. The hotel is definitely in the upper price range, and the price seemed excessive for the room offered. The value for money simply isn't there. However, the location and the attractive view of the harbor must also be taken into account. We would probably stay here again despite the high price.

Stars for the location. The breakfast was a bit boring…the eggs were hard boiled and the fruit was not fresh. Also got a half rotten cucumber 😔 The room was a nice size and nice bathroom. However, they could use new beds!

Cozy hotel, with a super good location. Close to the pedestrian zone and restaurants. We had a view of the harbor and the sea. We travel with a dog, and the staff had even made welcome packages for the 4-legged ones. Sweet thought. Good breakfast, with nice filling, despite the fact that we hit the time when the restaurant was almost completely full. Green areas close by, and good opportunities for beautiful walks. The room we stayed in was not new, but everything worked, and the bed was good. Is definitely worth a visit.

A bit worn rooms, but ok for overnight stay. Bathroom is small.
