ABSOLUTELY a fantastic place. The food was spectacular, the atmosphere was welcoming, the service was top notch. The food was a bit pricey, but they were showing football so it was worth it. Cozy place, will 100% come back

Very tasty burgers. Fresh ingredients. Great atmosphere. Very good service. We sat outside and ordered at the counter. Food and drinks were brought to our seats. The menu is also available in German. We'd be happy to come back.

We took a trip to Sonderburg and decided to have lunch at Skaal. Because the notice at our table—we were sitting outside—said we should order at the bar, we first got a menu inside. It was available in German and Danish. We then ordered at the bar in English. The drinks and food were brought to our table and arrived quickly. The chicken and chips (chicken with fries) was very tasty. The onions on the meatloaf were a bit overcooked, but otherwise it was very good. The service staff was very friendly. Paying with a German debit card was easy. Tipping wasn't possible with card payments, but they were happy to accept euros. At the next table, a Danish couple had ordered a beer tasting with 10 different beers. It looked interesting. We can recommend Skaal.

Sunday 1 p.m., sunny, great outdoor area on the market square. Unfortunately, even after 15 minutes, no employee was available to take an order. The order was canceled... Then they told me I had to order inside. My mistake. Top service!!!

Hotel Sønderborg Strand

14/12/2025: Stayed at the hotel for one night on a deal with accommodation, 3 course menu and breakfast. The room was nice, large, a little worn and with a terrible shower. It was completely limescaled, and felt like syle. The 3 course dinner was delicious and tasty. However, the bread for starters was very dry. The service was fast and polite. Breakfast was nice, but missed the opportunity to get a caffe latte or other delicious coffee. Most of the staff at the hotel were foreign. The location is tip top in relation to the center and the water.
24/11/2025: Nice location in relation to the center, okay rooms and nice view. We were there on a luxury stay with 4 course menu, wine menu and breakfast. The dinner was quite terrible and what was supposed to be hot was cold. We have never been served such bad and tasteless food before. When you mentioned to the waiters that the food was not good and cold, they just switched to English and then stayed away from the table. The breakfast was okay.

Den Gamle Skomager

22/11/2025: If you want the game bodega experience then Den Gamle Skomager is definitely a good choice. We felt like we were stepping into 1990 with the music that suited the people who had probably also been sitting there since then. Well mixed with new young people who got too drunk and fell asleep at the table 😅. We experienced as unknown guests being really well received, except for Laila who apparently wasn't that keen on the male regulars wanting to talk to us. It was a bit more comical than uncomfortable and was completely in line with the 90s experience. We'd like to come back when the clothes have been washed of smoke and debate the difference between a Carlsberg pilsner and an Odense pilsner.
05/11/2025: We enjoy ourselves in really good company with the bartender and friends!
