It must be one of the most beautifully situated cafes in Denmark. The fact that it is also a coffee shop that oozes coziness, really good coffee, high quality and a very large selection of the most delicious sweets and pastries; makes it worth visiting even if you are not going to the Kronborg museum. It is difficult to leave without having tasted their almond croissant, it is absolutely top notch and almost better than in France.

Strandvejristeriet was recommended to me by a local as the best coffee shop in Helsingor. Although I have tried no others I can see that they may be correct. The cafe itself is well set out, staff are friendly, and there is a wide range of food & drink options plus other items for sale. The coffee was lovely and the setting in the shadow of Kronborg castle stunning.

Perfect spot for afternoon tea/coffee break. Really lovely atmosphere inside and a cute patio outdoor. Good coffee and great range of sweet treats. Lovely shop area selling crockery.

Overall a good experience, having to relax with a great view of the Kronborg Castle felt great. Tried their Romkugler, chai latte and cappuccino. They have a great selection of local pastries and the barista was great.

20/03/2026: A Danish friend took us to this place and we couldn’t have been more grateful. The restaurant has a charming vintage atmosphere with a beautiful view of the ferry — the kind of setting that makes you want to linger. The food was simply splendid. The menu is a lovely representation of modern Danish cuisine, with a strong focus on seafood and recipes that genuinely reflect the flavours of Denmark. A highlight were the small Danish potatoes — humble, but absolutely delicious and so authentically local. The service was warm and very attentive throughout. This is exactly the kind of place you’d only discover through a local, and exactly the kind of place you’ll want to come back to. Highly recommended!
