Pingvin

Aalborg, >100kr.
24/07/2026: A very interesting location with very good food and very friendly service
06/07/2026: I remember Pingvin as a really good place to eat from when it was in the city center. Unfortunately, it seems that the place has lost some of its charm after moving to Stjernepladsen. The food was quite good, but the next day I had difficulty remembering the menu or any special taste experiences. It simply did not make a noticeable impression. Unfortunately, the decor also detracted from the experience. Both the chairs, tables and the general atmosphere reminded me of an older, slightly run-down pizzeria in the province. I can't remember exactly what the decor was like in the old premises, but my friend and I both immediately noticed the lack of quality in the furnishings and the somewhat sad decor. Our waiter naturally asked if we wanted coffee or dessert after the meal. But after almost two hours on the chairs, my lower back was so sore that I didn't want to sit a minute longer than necessary - not even if the coffee had been free. Overall, the visit was okay, but the experience unfortunately did not live up to the positive memories I had from Pingvin's previous location. 3 tiny stars will do, but 2 stars wouldn't be quite right either.

Musikkens Spisehus

Aalborg
03/09/2026: I attended the French Evening with Opera at Musikkens Hus on August 22nd, where Restaurant Fauna was responsible for the food. Four days before the event, I wrote to the restaurant to ask what the menu was, as I am pregnant and therefore cannot eat everything. I never received a reply. I am surprised that you cannot get the menu in advance for an event in that price range. What if you have allergies or are vegetarian? At many other restaurants and events I have visited, it has not been necessary to contact them in advance at all – as food for a pregnant woman “simply” involves avoiding the raw foods and getting something else instead. In the evening, the menu was only presented at the start of the event, and the service began immediately. Unfortunately, there were several things on the plate that I could not eat. I asked a waiter if it was tartar – i.e. raw meat – and explained that I asked because I am pregnant. She simply replied “okay” and left. I never saw her again – in fact, it seemed that the waiters left the event completely after serving and went back to the restaurant, as it was otherwise very self-service. They could have offered some extra veal fillet, ham or just new chips that hadn't touched the tartare – or at least come back with a apology if there was no more food. Instead, I heard nothing, and in order not to go home hungry (despite the expensive tickets) I had to eat things that I otherwise actively avoid as a pregnant woman. It must be said, however, that the food looked incredibly delicious – which only made it an even greater shame that the waiter didn't come back and remove the things I couldn't eat. Instead, it was right in front of my nose and tempted me the whole evening, as I normally love tartare, liver pâté, serrano ham, etc. Overall, a disappointing experience, where neither communication nor service lived up to the price.
24/08/2026: Incredibly good food and service.👍😀🙂
