Cafe Hattesgaard Tønder

Decent cakes with fancy decoration made of unedible flowers. Look nice on social media. Quality of the cake is quite good. Staff (young lady) doesnt talk and comes across not very friendly. Cakes and Coffee dropped from a distance without a word on a tablet on the table. Cups and cakes have to be self served. Worst service i have seen in Denmark - quite exceptional!

A lovely café. Friendly staff and a beautiful atmosphere. We sat on the terrace in the sunshine and enjoyed the delicious cake. Highly recommended :-)

Overall, an absolute island highlight! The baked goods are high quality, beautifully and lovingly presented. The outdoor seating is very pleasant, surrounded by antiques, fabrics, blankets, etc., and there are plenty of good things to buy. Unfortunately, I have to deduct one point, and that concerns the service: Everyone is very friendly and helpful. However, a family lives there, and the private area is poorly signposted. The owner of the house was unfortunately very unfriendly. Of course, I can understand her; I wouldn't like tourists sitting on my terrace either. But we couldn't do that and were served there by the café staff. They should have informed us that we couldn't sit there. The owner could have at least shown a modicum of understanding (we were very polite and apologized). Unfortunately, it was very misleading, and Hattesgaard should work on preventing this kind of misunderstanding from happening again, or at least encourage the "friendly" owner to better mark her private property.

Hattesgaard Café is always a treat for the palate and the eye.
