Den Gamle Arrest, Ribe Esbjerg

Although I lived in a former prison cell with sparse furniture, there was something special about spending the night at Den Gamle Arrest in Ribe. The private toilet was a luxury the inmates probably didn't have. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, sausages, skir, bread and some cold cuts and cheese. Coffee, tea and juice, there was a nice waiter and it was nice to sit and eat in the historic setting. However, I think perhaps I lacked a bit of the raw, authentic feeling that one might expect from a stay in an old prison. But the location in the heart of Ribe made up for the shortcomings. It was a unique experience, even if the authentic prison atmosphere was perhaps a little too polished. Check-in; you received an SMS with all the information you need to be able to find the key, room, etc. The price is on the expensive side for one night, for the hotel's standard.

Really lives up to expectations and there is a fantastic atmosphere in the old buildings..

Fantastically good and authentic experience... and breakfast at the top... can be highly recommended:) ... check-in and dinner at the associated restaurant Kolvig makes the overall experience completely unique 🤗🤗🤗

If you want to choose a different hotel, this is the place. The location is good, in the middle of Ribe, right by the church and the square. However, the rooms were not so well maintained, several things did not work. The breakfast is somewhat lacking and not particularly inviting. The price is simply too high for what you get.

Tredje anhalt på Jyllandsresan. Ribe är en fantastisk vacker och gammal stad med det mesta kring torget där också hotellet låg som har varit ett gammal fängelse. Den är inte bemannad vilket gjorde att man fick hämta nyckel 200m bort vilket inte var det enklaste att hitta. Inte heller parkering var så enkelt men till slut hittade vi 48tim parkering. Själva hotellet skulle jag inte rekommendera till de som har svårt för trånga trappor. Frukosten var kanon.
