Den Gamle Arrest, Ribe Esbjerg

Right in the center of Ribe, in the city's old prison. Great service, very extensive breakfast, what more could you want.

Really nice breakfast buffet and sweet service. I have been here for Christmas. You let yourself in via the key box. It works ok. Plus, it is possible to park right outside opposite the church. It's just beautiful.

Fantastic weekend stay. Sleep in an old prison. What a charming and authentic experience. Living room, so we could enjoy ourselves friends. Tasty breakfast and good coffee. It was a lovely experience, and friendly staff. The stay you should take if you want to go back in time and need a bed, a bath and breakfast. Ribe is a beautiful city, with a beautiful cathedral. We were there on the 1st of Advent. With sleigh rides, Christmas town, Santa Claus, tastings and beautiful Christmas decorations.

Although I lived in a former prison cell with sparse furniture, there was something special about spending the night at Den Gamle Arrest in Ribe. The private toilet was a luxury the inmates probably didn't have. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, sausages, skir, bread and some cold cuts and cheese. Coffee, tea and juice, there was a nice waiter and it was nice to sit and eat in the historic setting. However, I think perhaps I lacked a bit of the raw, authentic feeling that one might expect from a stay in an old prison. But the location in the heart of Ribe made up for the shortcomings. It was a unique experience, even if the authentic prison atmosphere was perhaps a little too polished. Check-in; you received an SMS with all the information you need to be able to find the key, room, etc. The price is on the expensive side for one night, for the hotel's standard.

If you want to choose a different hotel, this is the place. The location is good, in the middle of Ribe, right by the church and the square. However, the rooms were not so well maintained, several things did not work. The breakfast is somewhat lacking and not particularly inviting. The price is simply too high for what you get.
