Kanalen is a must-see gastronomic stop if you're visiting Copenhagen. After our first dinner, we were so won over that we booked again a few days later.
The location is stunning, right on the Christianshavn Canal, in an elegant and charming setting.
The cuisine is excellent: meat and fish dishes prepared with great skill, using top-quality local ingredients and enriched with expert influences from international cuisine. Each course is meticulously crafted, both in presentation and flavor balance.
A special mention goes to the Miso Pork Ribs with BBQ Sauce, Peaches, Thai Basil, and Cilantro Cress: simply spectacular! A surprising dish, where every ingredient finds its perfect balance.
The finale lived up to the rest of the dinner: Poached Rhubarb with Hibiscus Flowers, Lightly Whipped Vanilla Cream, Meringue, and Vanilla Ice Cream is a refined, fresh, and truly delicious dessert.
Impeccable service, a relaxed atmosphere, an extensive wine list, and impressive cuisine. An experience we recommend without hesitation. We can't wait to return to Copenhagen... and, of course, to Kanalen!

It’s a super sweet charming location overlooking to the canal, the staff were so nice, foods are great. I recommend to share food because it’s a small order like tapas kind of setting. Me and my sister were happy with the food and the service. Definitely will recommend to friends and family.

Kanalen, a wonderful gastronomic interlude!
We had heard that Copenhagen was renowned for its cuisine... and as epicureans, we were captivated by the Kanalen restaurant! With its French inspiration and Danish flair, each dish was a delight for our taste buds! Refined presentation! Warm welcome! And even more so when we had the pleasure of being greeted by the charming Josephine, a French-Danish woman who gave us wonderful advice and guided us on our culinary journey! Thank you, Josephine! Josephine, one of the most beautiful encounters in a lifetime! The restaurant by the waterfront: magical! During our 6-day stay, we went twice! Don't hesitate to make this gastronomic stop and remember to book! Thank you, Kanalen, thank you, Josephine! We will gladly return on our next trip to Copenhagen!

Beautiful canal views and excellent sharing plates – Perfect for a romantic dinner
We booked an 8:00 PM reservation for a romantic dinner for two, and we were absolutely delighted to find our table waiting for us with a stunning view of the canal.
We really enjoyed the sharing plates concept, and the quality of the food was outstanding.
I highly recommend this restaurant! However, I specifically recommend sitting out on the terrace if you can, as the indoor dining room seemed a bit noisy.

One of the best meals we had in Denmark. We were especially grateful for our waitress, Elinka who was friendly, unpretentious and very welcoming. She seated us with a smile even though we turned up an hour prior to our reservation and made us feel right at home. The food was excellent and the ambience (by the canal) was just perfect. Will be recommending this venue to all our friends!

Everything was very good, from attentive and kind service to classical or more innovative food. Huge choice of wines (although most of them are beyond my budget - but I could easily find the one). Only one small negative point (in comparison to the rest): it was very noisy.
