I enjoyed a wonderful 3 course smørrebrød meal on the terrace on a sunny day. A creative twist on the classics, all of the meals were prepared to perfection and served by staff who nailed their service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.

Delicious smørrebrød, try their juice! The service was also good at explaining the dishes.
A small minus was that they had no oat milk for the coffee if you are lactose intolerant.

Vi var to par afsted og fik ialt 8 stykker smørrebrød og 2 desserter m.m.. Det var alt virkelig topklasse. Men prisen er i den høje ende, det gælder også for drikkevarer. Men har man råd skal man give sig den oplevelse en gang imellem. En almindelig torsdag middag var der fyldt, så der må være mange odenseanere som har råd ! Dessert var øllebrød som jeg ikke havde smagt før og det var en fornøjelse , til 120 kroner dog også betalt.

Return visit to HOS
Even though it had been four years since I last stopped by, that piece of chicken salad still stands out in my memory as the best serving of chicken salad I've had. That's why I was looking forward to another lunch at HOS. We had decided to drive off the E20 and take a lunch stop on our trip towards Copenhagen.
With six years behind me, I feared that the everyday drumbeat had set in, but let me say it right away: Everything was sharp that Friday, and before I left the table, I was already starting a mental exercise to find a suitable time to pass by Odense again.
I was served:
Fried cod roe with taramasalata, roasted cabbage & marinated onions
Caramelized Jerusalem artichokes with Gammel Knas, hollandaise & truffle
Both tasted enchanting and it was impossible to pick a favourite. However, I would say that the cod roe was unusually well balanced, stood sharp and was not overloaded. The rye bread was visible from all four sides and thus came to its full potential – both visually and in terms of taste.
I still need to get on board the herring, which is clearly my favorite smørrebrød, but there are spiced schnapps and tempting glances from the beautiful wooden counter. So I surrender when I drop by for a longer stay.
HOS stands out for smørrebrød, which rises far above the standard, as well as a super attentive service that shows great professionalism - without losing the relaxed atmosphere. I would also like to mention that there are good chairs, good space between the tables, and that the raw bricks create a slightly cave-like feeling, which all in all contributes to a cozy atmosphere.

HOS offers a truly unique dining experience. Delicious food, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff make you want to come back here once more. The dishes are beautifully served and definitely worth the price. Highly recommended!
