15/09/2026: The food was delicious and the staff was very kind and professional. However, I was a bit unsatisfied with the waiting time. We booked at 18:30 and ordered directly. Got our dish at 19:40. Definitely some space for improvement on this aspect 🙏🏻

24/09/2026: I really enjoyed my experience here! The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area has a really cozy atmosphere, with warm lights and a slightly darker vibe that I really liked. It feels very warm and welcoming.
We chose to sit outside, which was also really nice. Of course, you are a little more exposed to the weather, but the staff kindly offered us blankets, which I thought was a very nice touch.
The service was excellent. I’m currently learning Danish, but I’m more comfortable speaking English, so I really appreciated that they have an English menu and that the staff speaks English. Everyone was very kind, attentive, and patient with us.
I went with a group of four and ordered the pork steak tartare. It was really tasty and tasted very fresh. The sauce was also really well-seasoned, and I enjoyed my meal a lot. There were several interesting options on the menu, so I think there’s something for different tastes.
The prices are a little high, but I think it’s worth it if you’re looking for a place to celebrate something special or just have a nice evening out. They also have a great selection of drinks, so it would be a nice place for a dinner with friends or a special occasion.
Overall, I had a really nice experience and would definitely come back!
19/09/2026: Beer and burgers, as is often the case in this part of the world. On sunny days, there's a nice terrace across the street, in a square shaded by trees.

29/08/2026: Den Gyldne Okse is a fantastically lovely and cozy place, and the quality is top notch, both in terms of food, but certainly also the service and atmosphere. We regularly drive from Aarhus to Viborg, just to visit Den Gyldne Okse, and enjoy a delicious meal in the cozy surroundings.
My best recommendations.

18/08/2026: Excellent selection for an "eat 'til you drop" brunch. Should you feel the need for a dessert to finish off, there is also a good and wide selection.
Importantly, and of great importance, the coffee served was tasty. 🙂

The whole restaurant is talking about it across the tables 😊
A few delicious dishes to choose from. Several tables tonight can recommend the hake, rib eye and octopus.
The service is polite and attentive.
The chef and owner for 9 years is from Bulgaria and the waiter from Greece and lovely to talk to.
Definitely worth a visit.

06/08/2026: 2 chose pepper steak which both should have the same degree of doneness, medium, neither was right. The sauce tasted nothing otherwise ok.
2 schnitzels which were edible but so-so.
The children took homemade breaded chicken, however they forgot to write that it was coconut breaded which changes the dish a lot.
The children's burger we were supposed to have was supposed to be an "empty burger" came with cheese and a lot of vegetables (which didn't exactly fit in a children's burger).
21/07/2026: We celebrated my husband's birthday and the weather was lovely. We got a table outside in the courtyard. Really nice.
We all ordered 3 House Steaks. One 300g and 2 200g. Also rosé wine which was kept cold and topped up when the glasses were almost empty.
It tasted really good.

28/08/2026: I was just in Tilst to get a steak..it was so overcooked..but they were super nice and made me a new one with fresh fries and sauce..such a good experience..the only bad thing was..that they no longer have pepper sauce which I liked
19/08/2026: Very good dishes, good quality meat/steak. We had diner with 3 children. Good portions, very good salad bar. Kids get free ice cream for desert.
After a daytrip from Grenaa back to the camping we were surprised to have this good diner. Super friendly service. Highly recommend for a nice diner!

25/09/2025: The food was quite nice. It was a steak, potato slices and whiskey sauce. A basic steak and I would recommend not buying the small one of the cheap ones. It is not particularly big. But of course tastes good anyway.
I think it is quite expensive for what it is, but I like the food, and will probably come again.
03/09/2025: I was there today to have a nice lunch with my daughter.
When I receive the chicken, and am about to eat it, it was raw. I call the waiter and tell her about it. When she sees it she says, yes I can see that, I will do something about it. 2 minutes pass, then she comes back and says, it's just the juice that is red, we have checked the temperature. I am not convinced at all and express concern. I ask if it is possible to send the food back as I am not comfortable eating it. Tom she answers that it is. When I get to the checkout to pay for the things I actually got and ate, the waiter says “that is a big difference, if I were to give it to you for free, the only thing I can do is give you 20%”
So I was forced to pay for something I did not get, and was allowed to return.

We got our food at 5:00 PM sharp.
There was no one else in the restaurant when we left at 5:50 PM.

24/09/2025: We order Food to take away last saturday 20 of september, but when we Came it was close everyone was sick.
We did not get food and still not have the money back,we have came back to try to get the money and send email, but still no money
11/09/2025: We entered an almost empty restaurant and were greeted kindly, but with a "warning" that they couldn't serve draft beer at all.
We could live with that, so the husband ordered 1 glass of red wine and I ordered sparkling water.
The husband ordered and received an excellent piece of beef.
I was tempted by the special offer sign on the table, which showed a schnitzel with a pile of fried mushrooms and accompanying fries and sauce.
It was brought to the table by someone other than the one who took the order.
I was told that it was a mistake, that I had not been told that they had run out of mushrooms.
Despite this, the kitchen prepared the food, without taking the initiative to suggest to me whether I would rather order something else.
Instead, she suggested a salad without charge and coffee after the meal.
I said, as it were, that it was a poor substitute for what you have just been looking forward to. I asked if there were any mushrooms in the salad bar that they could fry? But no, there weren't any.
At that point, it was finally suggested to me that I might want something completely different.
I said no, a bit of the fun disappears when one person has eaten and the other has to sit and wait.
I poured sauce over my meat and it slid down.
Then the man looks at me and says "you'd almost think they're going bankrupt"
A little later, the waiter came over and asked a little awkwardly if it was good after all.
To that I replied: "When the draft beer system doesn't work and you don't have the ingredients that were marked on an offer on the table, you'd think you're going bankrupt"?
She answered YES to that, the restaurant is closing at the end of September.
She told me a little more, which I won't repeat here, but it's not fun to be a part of.
We wished them luck in finding a better workplace.
