Good food otherwise a bit strange

Café Retro Brøns Kro must have tested their steak sandwich and expectations are reasonably high as the price is expensive and we have heard pretty good about the place. Arrived at 1.50pm and placed order straight away, food was served at the table at 2.10pm and looks nice at first glance tried better and significantly worse. Steak sandwich consists of a white pre-made sesame bun which is nicely warm and tastes as it should. The steak is a really nice rose-roasted hot 200 gram boy that tastes at the good end of what we have tried. There are good home-pickled cucumbers and delicious home-pickled beetroot, both pickles taste great. In addition, brown onions have also found their way into this steak sandwich, and they are also ok, but on the sweet side. In addition, there is some common onion in it. This steak sandwich is the first I've tried with a fried egg in it and I didn't think it belonged, but it divides water at the table half for and the other half against. As so many times before, the sauce is the most important thing and here there is actually plenty of sauce, but we have never had a sauce that is so sweet, it is wild and towards the end of the dining experience it becomes nauseating. The worst of it all is that the sauce is cold when served, with a little goodwill lukewarm, but 3 out of 4 at the table but downright cold. So it won't do. With a price of DKK 179.00 (including fries which tasted ok) we hit the same price point as many of the gourmet steak sandwiches you can read about in my previous reviews, but we don't come close to that, this steak sandwich is sweet with sweet on top and the sauce is almost a scandal (some who like sweet sauce probably thought the opposite) I looked far and wide to find some ketchup, mustard and remoulade in this and I'm still looking. With a price of DKK 179, you have to expect more and greater dining experience, the Wow effect is completely absent, a price level for this food should be Max 109.- I think you should spend the money elsewhere 2.5 stars out of 5 unfortunately. Hope Southern Jutland offers better experiences in the next few days.

Very friendly service, pleasant atmosphere. The order is placed at the counter and payment is also made there. We ate very well and plentifully and can only recommend the café.

A nice, cozy meal, a nutritious dinner. The portions are very large, you won't leave hungry. You can get a doggy bag. But perhaps as a tip for the owner: also make portions for seniors, so that not so much food is returned.
