08/03/2025: We were here for an event with my work. Great place with all for the sweet tooth. We had different types of chocolate, hot chocolate, icecream and a lady telling the history of Peter Beier. Everything was good, we will be back to try an Iced chocolate when summer comes.

11/04/2025: Very nice and cozy cafe, and very friendly service. The food was ok, tasted good, but for the price, 185kr for a burguer, we were expecting an outstanding burguer. Besides the over price food, is a nice place to enjoy a beer on a sunny day on the terrace.

06/04/2025: The food is good, the cola is 50kr for an average glass size, a bit of a rip off. Furthermore, the service is overwhelmed by all the demand, and the atmosphere is a bit chaotic.

06/04/2025: Delicious smørrebrød, good service and the atmosphere was top notch. Special draft beers and schnapps. We were very satisfied with this visit which can clearly be recommended. The bodega is perhaps Denmark's oldest from 1787. A little about the place: Your Friend Jl. P. Lurnbge, Art, music and food Many old houses in Copenhagen have an exciting story to tell, if only the walls could talk. This applies not least to the property Esplanaden 4, which for a few hundred years has been the setting for great art, music and food. It is true that there has only been a tavern on the ground floor since 1906, but several owners of the property over the years have been brandy distillers and beer brewers, so there has undoubtedly also been some pouring and enjoying in the house over the years. One of these brandy distillers was called Ho-eberg, and his father-in-law, who also lived in the estate for a number of years, was the very popular composer and Tivoli conductor Hans Christian Lumbye. Lum-bye moved into the property in 1858, where he had long established his name as the "Strauss of the North", and several years before had composed his big hit, "Champagnegalop". But several of his popular melodies were created in the apartment on the first floor. Lumbye's musical son-in-law, distillery owner Peter Hoeberg, wrote down some of the themes that Lumbye often played on the piano in the evening, but often forgot the next morning, perhaps because of the good brandy. But Høeberg thus saved several compositions for posterity, among others "Amelie-Valsen". In the bodega's ceiling, you can still see traces of the spiral staircase that went from Høeberg's brandy distillery up to Lumbye's apartment on the first floor. A very large number of painters also lived in the property for a long period. From around 1832, Christian Kobke lived with his painter friend Frederik Sødring in the house on Toldbodvejen, as it was then called. They had their shared studio on the third floor, and it was here that in 1832 Købke painted the well-known portrait of Sødring. In 1930, the tavern on the ground floor was given its current name "Toldbod Bodega", and the beautiful and distinctive facade with the vine core dates from that period. Over the years, the bodega has changed its character, so that today, more than ever, it is also a popular eating place with the famous Danish, highly coated smørrebrød and authentic Danish cuisine on the menu. As is well known, it was at Toldboden that a sailor disembarked. There are not so many sailors anymore, but instead lots of business people, lawyers, journalists and other good people who appreciate good Danish food and drink in pleasant surroundings. Helle Møller and her father H.P. Nielsen provided for the last 25 years.

14/02/2025: Awesome place to eat, its not just breakfast as we Americans think of it. I order asian conne(it filling thia food), my wife got porridge with blueberries. She and I were happy. The food is filling, but does not feel heavy. Highly recommend Grod!!! No regrets! 😀

The food was really boring - goat cheese salad consisted of two pieces of thinly sliced ​​baguette with a little warm goat cheese - boring salad with toasted walnuts and a few streaks of glace as dressing

17/04/2025: Ordered a pita bread with extra meat (DKK 70 + DKK 10) at night with delivery, the food was delayed, paid for a bag that was not included....the food tasted fine, but there was no extra meat and the pita bread was generally scraped, paid DKK 96 in total with delivery....felt really cheated! :( :( :(
07/04/2025: Tasteless durum shawarma with very little meat in it. The meat had been cut in advance and was in a display case, and the bread looked like something bought ready-made.
