21/08/2026: 3-day-old rye bread at a baker’s… We went to Løkken to buy fish and rye bread for lunch. We chose MENY Kystbageren this time, as it is located next to the fish truck, which we have been visiting all week. When we get home and put everything out, we realize that the “pack date” is dated 3 days ago, so we have bought old rye bread at a baker’s. If we wanted dry rye bread, we would probably just pick something up inside the store for 1/2 price. Disappointment. The fish truck outside gets a huge recommendation, though. But go to Super Brugsen for bread.

22/09/2026: A truly lovely and welcoming café in Hjørring! The staff are exceptionally friendly, warm and attentive, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The cakes are homemade, and the sandwiches are freshly prepared with lots of love and care — and you can really taste the difference! There are also plenty of beautiful little home décor and gift items to discover. Whether you’re looking for a tasty snack, a nice coffee or simply want to browse around, Happie is such a charming place to visit. We felt completely at home and would happily come back again!

24/07/2026: Extremely expensive for such a small portion of food. There were 5 of us and we were all disappointed with the food and the portion size for the price.

24/09/2026: Had the pleasure of another visit to Kim, with Anders in the kitchen. Really delicious and well-balanced menu with a customized wine menu. Definitely worth a visit!

05/09/2026: We went there three times with our children. The service was polite. Unfortunately, the last time we came – this time with our dog – the service was extremely unfriendly. The server even said, in a rude tone, that there was a law in Denmark that generally prohibits dogs in restaurants. That's not true. If a restaurant doesn't allow dogs in the dining area, that's one thing; politeness is another. It's a shame, as the children loved going there.

18/09/2026: A charming café with a small shop. The cakes are baked fresh every morning and are absolutely divine. The owners are incredibly kind, and speaking German is no problem. Card payments are accepted in the café, but you'll need to pay in Danish kroner to take anything from the shop. For a lasting holiday feeling, pick up some locally produced honey. Don't be fooled by the label—it's still made by bees nearby. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Denmark.

24/07/2026: Wonderful place just a few hundred meters from the beach. We stayed in a small apartment, privately owned. Nice atmosphere and very quiet around the premises.

15/05/2026: When you stay at this hotel you are one of the many guests that stayed here since it opened 130 years ago which will be celebrated on July 2025. ​The history began on June 26, 1896, when developer Hildur Bang officially inaugurated what was then called Vesterhavsbadet Tannishus. The architecture drew inspiration from the 16th-century manor house Nørre Elkjær, which was owned by Hildur’s father. ​When it first opened, the hotel featured just one main wing with 13 rooms and a dining room, accommodating around 40 to 50 guests. At the time, terms like "guesthouse for bathing guests" (badehotel) were completely new, establishing Tannishus as one of the pioneers of the Danish seaside holiday movement. ​In January 1921, Ingeborg Skaun purchased the hotel, managing it for the next 42 years. Under her leadership, the hotel flourished and expanded. She built the Junkerfløj wing and added a tennis court in 1935. At that time ​wealthy guests from Copenhagen were picked up by carriage or car at the train station in nearby Sindal. ​Traditions were strict and guests spent weeks at the hotel year after year. ​Later new wings were added while strictly ensuring that all modernizations remained on the footprints of the original buildings to safeguard its historic spirit. I had a pleasant stay in on of the appartments which was nicely furnished and featured a complete kitchen with a small oven and a fridge. You sleep on couches that you convert into a bed. Bed linen and towels are not included in the price. This is because guests who stay for weeks bring their own. You can rent bed linen and towels from the hotel. I used a good hot sauna and a nice swimmingpool. ​

20/09/2026: Not very crowded, but nicely decorated. Had a really tasty portaschotel and a delicious Hawaiian pizza. Service was prompt and polite.

26/09/2026: Kind-hearted host. The fish & chips and veggy burger were perfect comfort food after a long ferry trip. Would definitely recommend.

04/10/2026: Got a glass of wine.. The glasses were disgusting, not properly washed, with lipstick on.. blah.. One glass after another dirty.. So asked for a plastic mug instead, but not an experience..

15/09/2026: They had a pizza without cheese for a vegan option and could make a very nice and strong oat cappuccino. Very chill atmosphere in a space shared with a shop selling high end outdoor items like Patagonia. Different from the tourist trap places a few metres away in around the central square. Chill vibes extended to indifferent service on my visit, with the single member of waiting staff barely greeting customers at the door, not asking customers how their food was or if they needed anything. Also to these trash tissues sitting on the floor by my table the whole time I was there. Worth persevering despite the service if you prefer location, ambience, and food over fake smiles from staff.

17/08/2026: Wonderful place created by the host couple Mikala and Stavros! The premises are decorated with Mikala's artwork, and it is a feast for the eyes. Stavros serves a fantastic and honest 3-course daily menu - and then things just go up a notch 🫶 Highly recommended!

16/08/2026: Postgården Øl & Vinstue at Skolegade 19 is one of the places in Hjørring where you can still experience the classic Danish pub culture. It is not a modern cocktail bar or café, but a traditional and very local pub with its own history and atmosphere. The place has been at this address for many years. The Historical Archive of Hjørring has, among other things, pictures of Postgården Øl & Vinstue from 1986, and there is material from the address even further back, when the place functioned as Restaurant Postgården. This gives the place a historical dimension that many newer bars naturally do not have. Postgården is primarily a place where people come for the social aspect. Here it is all about having a beer, meeting other people, talking and enjoying the traditional pub atmosphere. Reviews from guests often highlight the cozy atmosphere, friendly people and the feeling of a real local place. The decor is traditional and old-fashioned in a very deliberate pub way. There are various beer-related decorations and posters, and the place has retained much of the look that you associate with a classic Danish bodega. That is part of its charm and identity. There is also a cozy courtyard environment, which several guests highlight. It gives the place another dimension, especially when the weather is good and you want to sit a little more secluded from the street. You should be aware that Postgården is first and foremost a tavern and not an ordinary eatery. Food is not usually served like in a restaurant. On the other hand, special activities and parties are arranged, where there is sometimes food. There has been, among other things, a summer party with a whole roast suckling pig. There is also a community around “Postens Venner”, which arranges various activities. There have been, among other things, parties and bus trips, which speaks very well that Postgården is not only about the room itself, but also about the social community around the place. The opening hours are unusually long. It opens as early as 7:00 am every day of the week. Monday to Wednesday and Sunday it is open until midnight, Thursday until 2:00 am and Friday and Saturday until 3:00 am. This means that Postgården functions both as a pub during the day and as part of Hjørring's nightlife later in the week. You should also be aware that smoking inside is mentioned by several visitors. For some it is part of the traditional bodega experience, while for others it can of course be a disadvantage. In my opinion, Postgården is interesting because the place does not try to follow every modern trend. It sticks to the traditional pub culture, where people, conversations and community are more important than modern decor and fancy drinks. All in all, a very authentic and local pub with lots of history and personality. If you want to experience a part of the old pub culture in Hjørring, have a beer and meet local people in informal surroundings, Postgården Øl & Vinstue is a place that definitely has its own place in the city.

29/08/2026: This has become one of my favorite places on this vacation. A café where you can feel good, be creative, and find peace. It's incredibly quiet here; everyone is working intently, or you can simply enjoy a book with a delicious coffee or hot chocolate. Even if you have the kids with you, they can surprisingly be just as quiet here. But most importantly: the warm and welcoming owner makes you feel completely at ease. We say thank you so much for the wonderful and creative moments in this café and look forward to coming back next year.
