05/02/2025: Very nice place. A small restaurant with a lively atmosphere and large kitchen. Fantastic food and friendly and knowledgeable staff. We took a three-course menu with a wine package and are very full and satisfied.

13/02/2025: Return visit to HOS Even though it had been four years since I last stopped by, that piece of chicken salad still stands out in my memory as the best serving of chicken salad I've had. That's why I was looking forward to another lunch at HOS. We had decided to drive off the E20 and take a lunch stop on our trip towards Copenhagen. With six years behind me, I feared that the everyday drumbeat had set in, but let me say it right away: Everything was sharp that Friday, and before I left the table, I was already starting a mental exercise to find a suitable time to pass by Odense again. I was served: Fried cod roe with taramasalata, roasted cabbage & marinated onions Caramelized Jerusalem artichokes with Gammel Knas, hollandaise & truffle Both tasted enchanting and it was impossible to pick a favourite. However, I would say that the cod roe was unusually well balanced, stood sharp and was not overloaded. The rye bread was visible from all four sides and thus came to its full potential – both visually and in terms of taste. I still need to get on board the herring, which is clearly my favorite smørrebrød, but there are spiced schnapps and tempting glances from the beautiful wooden counter. So I surrender when I drop by for a longer stay. HOS stands out for smørrebrød, which rises far above the standard, as well as a super attentive service that shows great professionalism - without losing the relaxed atmosphere. I would also like to mention that there are good chairs, good space between the tables, and that the raw bricks create a slightly cave-like feeling, which all in all contributes to a cozy atmosphere.

We were given a wine menu that should match the dishes, they did, except for a white wine that tastes like vinegar, we told the waiter that, but she didn't think there was anything wrong with the wine, we thought we could observe that she took a new bottle to the other guests. It was a bit of a blip in the experience for us.

11/02/2025: Coziest café with hearty burgers and a good, classic café menu. If you dream of a homemade vegetarian burger, this is not the place. The vegetarian steak is a pre-made pea and soy protein steak. There are a lot of people who like it, but if you're a bit of a it-must-be-homemade-and-no-soy protein hippie like me, then you get a bit annoyed. Otherwise, it's fine, and the service and atmosphere are top notch.

20/02/2025: We came today at closing time and were greeted with the greatest love. Although by wrapping it all up the staff stopped it and let the plates be filled as well. They actually did this at an exceptionally cheap price that I'm almost embarrassed to mention. They have shown some behavior that I have rarely seen. To this it must be said that we have been here several times and have never been disappointed. Today, however, they have shown a friendliness that I have never seen before. So for those of you who want your stomach full of fantastic food, you don't have to think twice.
