15/02/2026: Good food and fantastic service.

20/01/2026: A beautifully priced restaurant with a view of Skive Fjord. Steaks are high quality and the concept of side dishes for sharing works really well. Delicious ingredients and well prepared. Definitely worth a visit. Especially their weekly specials are really value for money!

29/12/2025: We had Sunday Roast with 3 servings of meat which was of very warming quality. Oh my! The side dishes were absolutely fine. Our waiter was incredibly unengaged, spoke so softly that she was a shadow of herself and almost impossible to get in touch with. After previous visits we had really looked forward to Sunday Roast with meat ad libitum, but oh my they couldn't live up to that.

21/12/2025: Food was a bit overrated, meat was ok but you can taste almost the same anywhere. Our meal was forgotten by the kitchen so we had to wait for almost 55 minutes for dinner after the starters. Nothing special about the atmosphere and the dinner.

09/11/2025: We had the set meal for 495kr which is a very reasonable price for the quality and amount of food. The atmosphere was good and surprisingly even though the restaurant was fully booked it was not that noisy and you didn’t have to raise your voice to have a conversation. As the restaurant was so busy the service was not the best it tools quite a long time to get each course and the waiter was rushing back and forth. You had to get a hold of them to order more drinks. Other than that it was a great experience and we will be back again!

08/02/2026: We visited on a Sunday for brunch and arrived at 11am (brunch starts at 10am). Upon arrival, there were no plates available, so we had to stand and wait before we could even eat. When we finally got to the buffet, the French bread was frozen and it took a long time for it to be refilled. What was served were small buns, and there was only one rye bread available. Yogurt only came out at the very end, and the coffee pots were repeatedly empty. In general, the refilling of both food and drinks was very poor, and the service did not meet expectations in any way. In addition, we were seated extremely closely. All tables were booked, but there was so little space that you could hardly pull out your chair without the person next to you having to move. It felt both uncomfortable and unsafe, especially if an emergency were to arise. Guests who arrived had to wait in line for a long time before being welcomed, which meant that the front door was left open for a long time. This resulted in us, who were sitting and eating, getting cold. All in all, a very disappointing experience, both in terms of service, food and setting. We will not be back.

02/11/2025: Nov 2025. Dinner Saturday night. Reason for 4 stars is that you stink of deep-fried food when you go home - it makes the place seem on par with a cheap place. The decor doesn't quite match the delicious meat you get. The specialty is steak on lava stone that you grill yourself. Nice way to eat. We got Sasha meat - it was really tender, delicious and tasty. Good fries, potatoes and sauce. They have other dishes. Nice serving staff. Nice big place but still OK acoustics. Fast service. I would have focused much more on meat and lava stone, top quality potatoes/fries, tomatoes for the stone, nicer decor and no stink of deep-fried food. The quality of the meat and the coziness of grilling yourself can well carry a different 'class' on all parameters.

14/12/2025: This review is for Return downstairs. We had read about a "cozy atmosphere" downstairs, but the reality was a bit jarring—it felt more like a bunker. Compounding this, the room was very loud, primarily from groups having their meals before a night of partying. The advertised fine dining experience also fell short. The promised carefully chosen wine pairing for the three-course menu was simplified to a suggestion to just stick with one red wine, with the candid reason that the others were "boring." The initial experience definitely missed the mark on the high-quality, quiet night we had hoped for.

24/11/2025: The restaurant is just small place with a decent/romantic atmosphere. Service was very kind, our food was served in about 20min since we placed our order. Steaks tasted great. Pepper sauce was tasty but for our standard it was too mild (not enough pepper). But on the other side - chimichurri was great! Free starter was a nice surprise :).

17/11/2025: Great place, great meat with a unique good taste. Good wines, great service! Small and cozy place, on the slightly higher price end, but you leave with "it was worth it"

12/03/2026: When we arrived we were seated at the table without any instructions on how their ordering worked. We ordered appetizers, main course and drinks. It took a very long time before they came over to take our order The drink came 5 minutes after the appetizer. The steaks were very rare even though we had ordered medium. When we got it back they still came back rare. We had ordered some garlic fritters for the main course but they only came after we had finished eating after we had asked where it went. Overall I think it was bad that the waiters didn't come over to ask how it was going.

24/03/2026: Great stop on our way back from the castle. The house special ribs were delicious- perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Service was excellent, and the person who served us was so kind he even ran after us to return something we forgot. Highly recommended!

08/03/2026: In the middle of Ribe, with the Cathedral right outside the door, you will find Restaurant Jacob A. Riis. You feel welcome from the moment you step through the door. Fast and efficient service, a delicious menu and reasonable prices. Great atmosphere and cozy decor that is true to the building but also true to the name, Jacob A. Riis.

07/03/2026: Nice restaurant and ok service, but disappointing food. Got fish n chips and it was clear that nothing besides the salad was homemade. Both the fish and the chips were clearly shaken out of a freezer bag from a catering company. The food seemed like cheap cafeteria food and not like something served in a restaurant.
