19/10/2025: Attention, in this restaurant you're being cheated.
We ate at the restaurant and paid with credit card. The card reader was programmed to request a tip. I wanted to round up the amount and asked what I should enter. The staff told me I had to enter the total amount as second number. However, the system was programmed to add the bill amount plus the newly entered amount, meaning I was now charged more than double the bill amount. I immediately complained about this. I was told that they couldn't correct it on-site and that they would refund the additional amount within a few days. As nothing happened within 14 days, I emailed the restaurant and received another response, stating that they needed a Danish bank account number. Since we're from abroad, I gave them the account details of my home bank. After that, despite three email inquiries, I never heard from this restaurant again.
This constitutes the criminal offense of intentional fraud.
I have filed a criminal complaint to the Danish police.

09/08/2025: Unfortunately, the food is very disappointing. We had the Fiskefrikadeller, a Fiskefilet and s Stjerneskud. All was either completely tasteless or decidedly bad, as in tasted moldy. We came here two years ago when we were visiting Denmark and it was really good so it was a bit of an anticlimax. The setting is lovely though.

22/12/2025: I had a most pleasant, and peaceful experience at this beautiful Cafe San Remo in Helsingor / Elsinor. I found this lovely, and cozzy cafe as I walked in the Old Town. I had a delicious fried eggs, with bacon and potatoes. The food was super yummie! The servers were very proper, courteous, with a grand genuine smile, and a lovely disposition. It all fill me up with optimism, and with joy. I will return. It is a very easy train ride from Copenhagen. Kudos to Cafe San Remo, the Chef, and all the beautiful ladies that work there. BRAVO ZULU! 30/11/2025: We went in a little skeptical – the name San Remo Café sounds more Italian than Danish – but the posters advertising traditional food tempted us, and we took the chance. We don’t regret it!
The place was completely full and there was a good, lively atmosphere. We were greeted by a friendly waiter and quickly got a table. You order at the counter, and the menu was a bit worn, but easy to understand with pictures of all the dishes.
We ordered roast pork with parsley sauce and biksemad with fried egg. The food came after about 15 minutes and was rustic and nicely served. The roast pork was crispy and generous, and the parsley sauce was delicious. The biksemad tasted homemade – just as it should be – but the portion could have been a little larger.
The service was warm and pleasant, as you would hope for in Denmark. We noticed that some dishes were heated in a microwave, and that’s a bit of a letdown. Nevertheless, the overall experience was so good that we’d love to come back.

03/10/2025: Their coffee was nice, but the rum ball was boring. It's a nice concept, but the cafe and the service area seem boring, messy and shabby.
09/09/2025: The baked goods were fresh and well-made, and the cappuccino was delicious.
Instead of eating from a paper bag and drinking from a paper cup with stirrers, the old-school option—with a plate, cup, and spoon—would have certainly been even more appealing. Moreover, the service seemed dismissive and unmotivated... what a pity, jam...

27/08/2025: The worst pizza ever. The base was wet and soggy, the filling was tasteless. It was worse than a store bought pizza.
The owner was in a good mood, but that doesn't make up for the pizza. .
16/08/2025: Italian place run by Italians, the waiter didn't speak Danish but was friendly and we still understood each other by speaking English, the pizza was good but a little too undercooked and the drink was a little watered down. A pleasant experience nonetheless

11/12/2025: Went to this place for lunch as I was spending the day here. Walking in the staff were not very pleasant, making it feel very uncomfortable as a solo traveller. Very quiet when I started to speak in English, not sure if they are not used to tourists visiting. Food itself was not the best. Wouldn’t recommend going here if you are not local.
19/08/2025: Just an ordinary Kebab/pizza place… and now hold on to the most expensive prices I've ever seen - more expensive than anywhere in Copenhagen and you're only in Helsingør… it should be the other way around.
BUT they have many different lunch pizzas for 69-79kr until 4pm 👍🏼

09/11/2025: Bad service. They either bring out the wrong food or forget something from the order.

The food is cold on arrival because they have sent 2 orders where one is somewhere else and therefore a detour is taken, the food does not come in a warm bag and the courier cannot find the address and parks far away and has to walk a long way with the open bag, calls the place who says they do not promise a perfectly warm burger but if it was pizza I had ordered then it was something completely different because pizza stays warm much longer and is much better than burgers the place says. They then want to give a 10 percent discount on the next order and 2 milkshakes, very random to offer that since I have not had a milkshake, I feel like they are totally pissing off their customers, the place was much better before the new owner came, not a place I will use anymore.

Not just salty, but incredibly salty.
The papaya salad, seafood salad, fried chicken, and basil stir-fry were all salty. The papaya salad was especially inedible.
The chef needs to improve the flavor a bit.
26/08/2025: I've never stayed and eaten, I've only ordered takeout. But it's our go to Thai place. It's very delicious, and they have a little bit of everything. They're always nice when you come to pick up the food.

07/12/2025: Disappointing. To start with they had lost our booking.. then they said we had to pay again, which we refused. The pool was broken, so you couldn't use it (it had obviously been there for a long time). The room: The toilet was black down in the basin and there was a hole under the very worn carpet so the glass table jumped every time we walked past. The TV could only receive DR1 and DR2 and restarted probably 25 times. At night there was a terrible spectacle because the owner was holding a wild party in one of the castle halls. In the morning we had to ask them to cover for us, as they had forgotten us again. And when we checked out they didn't think they had handed over our voucher... so we had to email it to them and wait for them to print it. Generally unprofessional!!
Sidenote. They said it was fully booked, but we were only 2 tables down for breakfast and we didn't see a soul.
07/12/2025: We had booked a stay at Sauterhus Slotshotel for 2 nights, 3 rooms with both breakfast and dinner as part of the celebration of my mother's 70th birthday. The choice fell on this hotel because it had an indoor pool, so that both children and grandchildren could enjoy themselves during the day.
Unfortunately, we were very disappointed already upon arrival. When we asked where the pool was, we were told that it had been closed for several months and was still not working. We booked the stay already 4 months ago, and we had not received any kind of information that the pool would not be available. That part was extremely frustrating, as it was the main reason why we chose the hotel.
As compensation, they offered a bottle of sparkling wine and some soda for the children, which certainly did not match the disappointment - and we therefore politely declined.
Unfortunately, the service at the reception was far below acceptable. Maurice, who served us, was both arrogant and uninterested in helping. At no point did we experience any understanding, friendliness or attempt at a real solution from his side. This made the disappointing situation even worse.
All in all, the stay did not meet expectations at all, and it was a disappointing experience on a day that should have been special and festive.
