08/06/2026: My 10-year-old son and I were spending our last night in Denmark before flying back home to the US. We picked Hindsgaul because we wanted to stay somewhere a little different, and the castle setting felt like the perfect fairytale ending to our trip. The hotel was beautiful, located in the nice quiet area with a lot of deer walking around. Since we didn’t have much time there, the actual reason why I am writing this review is amazing Maria at reception. After overhearing some guests talking about ghosts, my son got himself pretty worked up and couldn’t fall asleep. We ended up wandering down to the lobby, where Maria was working that night. She was so kind and took the time to chat with him and reassure him that there was nothing to be scared of. She even suggested warm sweet milk, saying that would help him to feel less anxious, it was so sweet of her. My son had never tried that before, but he happily gave it a shot. And somehow it worked! He slept like a baby Then the next morning our taxi didn’t show up. We needed to leave around 5am to catch a train to the airport, and I was starting to panic a little. Maria quickly realized we weren’t going to make it if we waited for another taxi, grabbed the car keys, and drove us to the station herself. Good that the station was close, that’s another big plus to add for the location of the hotel Because of Maria, we made our train, made our flight, and got home with no problems! We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels over the years, and it’s rare to meet someone who goes so far out of their way to help guests. We were only there for one night, but Maria made the maximum to help us feel completely at home and taken care of. So I am sending a huge THANKS to Maria, and Hindsgavl Castle for ending our Denmark trip on such a great note❤️ Will definitely recommend the place to others and hopefully one day I will get a chance to come back and spend a bit more time there 😊

22/07/2026: A fantastic bakery with outstanding pastries! We had a **Romkugle** and fresh **Cardamom Nurrer** – both were absolutely delicious and baked to perfection. A stop here is definitely worthwhile. We'll be back!

17/07/2026: Delicious big sandwich, but the lady who served us wanted it to be very quick. When we went to pick up the sandwich, we couldn't see where to pick it up and the staff also seemed impatient.

12/07/2026: We ate there on July 11th. It was delicious. Fresh ingredients, good portion size. Highly recommended, and a shame for us that it is so far away. It isn't big, but it is cozy. Real plants in the window. The chili peppers that were used were probably hanging in that plant 😄

29/05/2026: Good and cozy bakery, they sell real crafts, and the clerks are sweet and kind, it's a good shop that has many delicious things, including liver pâté from the local butcher, my compliments from here!

26/06/2026: Even if you pre-order, don't expect much from the plant-based lunch menu. You get the same as the others, minus the animal stuff, meaning you get no main ingredients, no protein, and nothing that fills you up. Mostly just lettuce leaves served three times.

12/07/2026: Perhaps you can educate the younger man with the snuff in his mouth that you can fold benches together without damaging the guests' hearing or creating a bad atmosphere.

09/07/2026: We got loaded fries with bacon and cheese, large fries with remu, a toasted hot dog with everything including red cabbage and a pita bread without meat. Here is a cozy day with high sun, if you are ready for a round of light traffic for your fried food. Super good fries, an ok toasted hot dog. We needed a slightly larger selection of vegetarian dishes.

20/01/2026: Good food. Both Mongolian barbecue, standard Chinese buffet and Sushi. I'm especially a big fan of the Mongolian barbecue, as it's easy to adhere to low carb.

18/01/2026: The service from the staff was okay, and that was unfortunately the only positive thing about the visit. The food did not live up to expectations. The rice was very dry, and the meat was tough and overcooked, which made it difficult to enjoy the dish. This was true regardless of whether you chose chicken, pork or beef, as the quality and preparation seemed the same across the dishes. The taste was generally flat, and the overall impression was that the food lacked both freshness and care in the preparation. It was a disappointing experience, especially in relation to the price and expectations. To top it off, there was no fizz in the soda water, and they gave the wrong size, which we had to pay for their mistake, even though we said we wanted a small soda water. All in all, a visit that did not live up to the standard, and which unfortunately did not make us want to come again.
