25/08/2026: It's edible if you're hungry. The ingredients on my vegetarian pizza didn't go together particularly well—and making it myself would have been much more expensive. Unfortunately, the fries tasted greasy. The portion was relatively large for the price, and you'll definitely fill up... although mostly with the amount of grease ;) The ordered plates and napkins weren't provided, making it a bit awkward to eat the salad and fish with your hands... If you choose well, you can certainly eat here, but don't expect too much. :)

25/08/2026: We ordered a vegetarian pizza and fries with fish and salad, with cutlery that wasn't provided. Otherwise, the food was okay, but only if you are really hungry. In our opinion, the ingredients of the pizza didn't really go well together. Furthermore, I found the fries and the fish a bit tasteless.

11/04/2026: Delicious food, but way too expensive

05/04/2026: A bit of a mixed bag, the hotel is iconic and beautiful from the outside, the rooms are a bit worn, but charming. The breakfast was ok, without overwhelming, and they should get the heating system a little warmer than it was. The snacks for their afternoon “degns hour” were a steal for the price, so skip them, the starter and dessert were also a bit on the expensive side. On the other hand, the main course, whole roast skarrissing, was fantastic and very reasonably priced, considering the location.

10/06/2026: I spent €800 in room 142 for four nights. It felt like I was sleeping next to a dishwasher. The only thing the unfriendly receptionist did was give me earplugs. Absolutely not.

22/07/2026: Creepily slow. There were 3 of them in the kitchen, but only one was cooking. The other two were just standing around. So you would think that one of the other two was taking orders, but nope.. We decided to order from home instead and had the food delivered. When it arrived, there was no salad on one of the pizzas, which we had paid for. My girlfriend called them and pointed this out, but was told that they don't change their pizzas. So even though we had paid for salad (via Wolt's website), they wouldn't make it with salad. Instead, they sent a box of salad that we could put on the now cold pizza ourselves. Incidentally, I had ordered a "choose your own" pizza (5 toppings of your choice) with 2x pepperoni, 1x spicy salami, onion and extra cheese. I wrote in the comments that it was intentional that I had chosen double pepperoni and that I wanted a lot of it. I didn't get that. There were 5 of them. If it's double, then a regular pepperoni pizza would contain 2.5 pieces of pepperoni.

29/06/2026: Had a late lunch there and the service and location are really good! Unfortunately the food is too much cafeteria style... really lacking a proper menu with homemade exciting food... but maybe it's beyond the owner's desire for the capacity of the place.

19/08/2026: We have just been to Restaurant California, and celebrated my fiancé's birthday. I had called and booked a table, and told him that we were celebrating a birthday. There was already a flag on the table, and what a cozy place. The food, T-bone steak and fish fillet were perfectly cooked. When we had eaten, one of the staff comes with a Banana Split, with a sparkler, and a big smile. We can only say good things about the restaurant, the smiling staff and good cuisine. A wonderful place 😁👍

16/08/2026: The service was adequate, and the restaurant was pleasantly empty, allowing for a peaceful meal. The drinks were also good – although you can't really go wrong with a Coke or water. The food was decent and filling, but it lacked a certain freshness and finesse. The occasional beeping from the microwave unfortunately explained things and gave the impression that not everything was freshly prepared. In short: You'll leave satisfied, and the service is fine, but there's definitely room for improvement in the food.

01/08/2026: **Visit:** July 31, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m. The restaurant has mixed opinions. Especially in the Facebook group *Skagen*, there are both very positive and very critical opinions from locals, and tourists from many different countries have given very different reviews. Before my visit, I therefore decided to investigate the restaurant more closely. I read reviews on Trustpilot, Tripadvisor, Facebook and Google Reviews, which together amount to around 477 reviews. After reading them, I therefore arrived with some skepticism – especially about how the staff would handle the guests, and whether the many negative reviews would be noticeable during the visit. ## The food The hot dishes generally tasted really good. Several of the dishes were influenced by the classic Chinese cuisine **椒盐 (jiāoyán)** – the well-known combination of salt and pepper, which originates from the Guangdong province and Hong Kong. Of course, one can discuss how much the dishes are adapted to Danish taste buds. All the hot dishes were at the correct serving temperature, and I had no problems with the quality. ## Sushi The only area where I think the restaurant could improve is the presentation of the sushi buffet. Here it seems as if more emphasis has been placed on quantity than on presentation. The sushi itself tasted quite good, but the buffet appeared a bit messy and therefore less inviting. Restaurant Asia serves, among other things: * Sushi with tempura chicken * Sushi with tempura shrimp These varieties do not contain raw fish, but deep-fried ingredients. In Japanese restaurants, this type of sushi is often prepared in advance and served cold, which is completely normal. In many Chinese restaurants, on the other hand, it is often prepared together with the hot kitchen, where it can be served warm when ordered. Therefore, guests should be aware of the difference between classic sushi with raw fish and tempura sushi, which is a completely different type of sushi. ## Constructive criticism The Mongolian BBQ could also be explained better. Many guests who are unfamiliar with the concept may mistakenly believe that the food is cold or unfinished. A brief explanation in both Danish and English would likely prevent many misunderstandings and thus also a number of negative reviews. In addition, the restaurant could consider: * Clearer signage at the Mongolian BBQ. * Visible hand sanitizer dispensers on both sides of the buffet. * Turning or stirring rice, noodles, and the like a little more often to give the buffet a more inviting look. This is not a requirement, but it improves the overall impression. ## My rating ### Food – 5/5 The temperature of both hot and cold dishes was correct. Fish, shellfish, and raw materials seemed fresh, and the sushi tasted fine without any comments. ### Hygiene – 5/5 The staff cleaned continuously during the visit, without it seeming disruptive. The restaurant generally appeared clean and well-maintained. ### Staff – 4/5 The staff was busy. Some were very smiling, while others were more focused on their work tasks. However, I did not experience any bad service or rude treatment. ### Drinks – 4/5 Water is not free, which foreign tourists should be aware of. However, this is common practice at many restaurants in Denmark. ### Buffet rules – 5/5 As in most Chinese restaurants, the entire party chooses either buffet or à la carte. This is a normal rule and nothing special for Restaurant Asia. ## Overall rating **⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4 out of 5)** After my visit, I must say that I did not experience the serious problems described by several reviews. The food was well-cooked, the temperature was correct, the hygiene was good, and the service was completely acceptable. Therefore, I have difficulty recognizing the restaurant's bad reputation. The inspection reports from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration do not indicate any problems either. I believe that some of the criticism may be due to misunderstandings about the Mongolian BBQ and the different types of sushi. Overall, I had a good experience and would have no problem recommending the restaurant to others.

03/09/2025: If you enjoy sitting by the harbor and appreciate authentic Danish fish dishes, this is the place for you. Self-service (very efficiently organized), very friendly staff with excellent English skills. The price-performance ratio is decent by Danish standards: 400 kroner for two people.

02/09/2025: It was OK, but nothing more. We've had better fish restaurants in Denmark. I can't say whether the restaurants next door would have been any better.
