05/07/2025: New owner. Very good food and excellent service.

21/06/2025: Synes vi fik en god behandling af tjeneren som var på job den dag. Maden var god og drikkevarerne kolde. Synes der var fin sammenhæng mellem pris og mængden og kvalitet. Hyggeligt lille sted med inde og ude servering. Vi var 11 og der blev hurtigt rykket rundt på bordene så vi kunne sidde sammen inden for. Vi havde ikke bestilt bord i forvejen. Dejligt de kunne have os da vi var blevet afvist på en anden café i centeret ved siden af. Kommer gerne igen.

22/07/2025: Just a short visit on an open house day. Interesting to see old American cars.

21/07/2025: We didn't like it. The rooms weren't in the retro style like the photos when we booked - no, they were/are totally outdated. Only the bed linen was okay, otherwise I would have left. The room stank when we first walked in. So we treated it with disinfectant spray and then aired it out for a long time. Annoying other guests were chatting and smoking in hordes outside the next room long after 10 p.m. Great if you want to sleep. The diner at the entrance isn't really recommended either. Apparently no table was available inside. We had to sit outside (it was quite chilly that evening). There were and remained several tables free inside while we were there. I noticed this because we had to order inside. Nobody came out. We won't be back.

25/08/2025: Top-notch restaurant! Here, you order at the counter and pay before being served. Fast and friendly service. The burgers are delicious and beautifully presented. The desserts are simply CRAZY!!! They're super good and very generous.

09/08/2025: Friday's barbecue buffet - it can't be better! The buffet had everything your heart could desire. We were greeted by a wonderful smell and a warm welcome 😁We sat outside - everyone did, and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere of happy people, good food and the songs from the talented troubadour. The buffet offered more than we could possibly get through - several different types of potatoes and cuts from the grill, salads, fish, charcuterie and all kinds of dressings, sauces and side dishes. What we tasted was good. And then an extra tip for the staff: How sweet, straightforward and attentive you are. Herewith a recommendation. We will definitely be back

09/05/2025: Good for making SoMe, we were very disappointed. We ordered a tasting menu and got a little different. There was not very much food for two people. It was nicely presented, but some of it was also a bit boring in taste. We had quite high expectations, as we had ordered through a Facebook video ad and didn't really look at the price. It's a cheap sushi place with mediocre sushi, nothing worth driving for. The atmosphere was a bit dull and the staff were confused and kept forgetting our order. They forgot our water, our lemonade, our side dishes and then they had to go to the supermarket for some milk as they didn't have the time to make a latte for dessert. We were almost 30 minutes into getting our starter and the same for the main course, the restaurant was not even half full when we arrived. We were very surprised that it was so cheap, but was really or not worth more. On their SoMe advertisement, we had expected significantly higher quality and we actually thought Charlottenlund would be better than the waterfront that was in the advertisement. Now we haven't been to the waterfront but it won't happen either, we'd rather go to their competitors as we know what we're getting. 2.5 stars from here.

01/09/2025: Wanted a big Italian family pizza with good taste, found this place, have driven past before. Ordered via meal4u, convenient with removing ingredients (Paprika), and it worked. Family pizza which is the biggest I have seen, pizza tray large, durable, where the top does not touch the pizza. However, missing the accessory garlic dressing. The pizza really good, shrimp salad amazingly good, fries hit perfectly crispy and good taste. Delivery fast minus 15 minutes.

09/08/2025: I just visited Zirup in Copenhagen, and it definitely won't be the last time! The place is super cozy in the middle of Strædet, and the courtyard is truly a little respite from the city noise – perfect for both brunch in the sun and a glass of wine later in the day.

05/08/2025: Food was good but service was terrible. Food arrived with no cutlery. Cutlery only arrived upon request. Training a new server but wondering what the new person is learning.

07/08/2025: Really lovely experience at Gjerrild Vandrehjem. We were greeted by friendly staff, and were also shown around the hostel. The room was nice and clean, and there were lots of things for the children to do, both pillow rooms and lots of play facilities. The shared kitchen was also well maintained, and the other guests were good at cleaning up after themselves. The breakfast buffet was ok for the small amount you pay for it, and when my wife asked to have her eggs cooked a little longer, it was arranged without any problems. The service was top notch, very friendly staff who wanted to talk and share stories. We were even offered a beer by the local brewer. It is not far to the local beach where the children bathed and found petrified sea urchins. And Djurst sommerland and Randers rainforest are also just a short drive away. Overall we are very satisfied with our stay at Gjerrild Vandrehjem. And we will definitely come back another time if we plan a vacation in the area. Regards Emma, Maya, Nicholas, Sushila and Peter.

22/07/2025: A place with great potential that unfortunately does not live up to. We stayed at the hostel for two nights in high season with two small children. The price is too high compared to what you get for the money. The room was small for the price and unfortunately a little dirty. The shared kitchen is very sparse with only a small stove and four pots, which created a slightly stressful atmosphere among the many families with children on site who wanted to cook at the same time. An extra stove or two would be a big upgrade. The breakfast is OK, but does not at all live up to the expectations the place itself sets with their descriptions of the food. The host couple seem nice but are absent and the information is sparse. The hostel is otherwise quiet and child-friendly and located in beautiful surroundings in a quiet town close to the beach and nature. But many things could be done better - unfortunately it seems a bit like the host couple has lost their breath. We hope they come back strong.
