24/06/2026: **World-class authentic classic Danish open sandwiches** Slotskælderen at Gitte Kik is simply the best place in Copenhagen if you want to experience traditional Danish open sandwiches at their absolute highest level. An institution since 1910 – and you can see why. The service was top notch – attentive, warm and professional from the first second. The kind of service that is rare and makes the whole experience unforgettable. The open sandwiches are craftsmanship in the best sense of the word. The herring with its sour counterpoint, the paper-thin roast beef with soft onions and horseradish, the butter-fried plaice fillet – all served on solid homemade rye bread. Every single slice is prepared with pride and respect for the old recipes. And then the place itself is something in itself – historic vaulted cellar rooms from 1797, a stone's throw from Christiansborg, where there is the sum of genuine Copenhagen coziness and atmosphere. Book a table well in advance – there's good reason for that. Highly recommended! 🇩🇰

17/08/2026: The food was good, and considering it was a relatively large veal schnitzel and we were on an island, the price was reasonable. The decor is simple and rustic, but clean. All in all, it was okay, and there's nothing to complain about. My wife and mother-in-law, however, would have preferred pork or turkey schnitzel, which could probably be offered at a significantly lower price.

11/08/2026: That even though you tell them you've had gastric bypass surgery, you're not allowed to share a main course because the owner thinks it's only food for 1 person, and that's not how we do it on Bornholm. Well, then you'll lose me and my friends as customers. Not recommended!

01/09/2026: Chop Sticks is possibly the best Asian buffet in Copenhagen and the surrounding area. The staff is friendly and helpful, and most of the time they help clear the table a bit. The only little gimmick is their robot that comes with Mongolian barbeque when it's ready. Here they use clips on your plate, so you don't have to stand and wait for them to prepare the food you've chosen. The furniture is comfortable and the decor is modern. The only small minus here is that the noise level quickly gets quite high. You might want to look at when it's less busy during the day if you want to avoid a relatively high noise level. This is a typical problem for many of these types of places and the same applies here. The selection at the dinner buffet is the strongest I've seen, and there are many delicious dishes to choose from, so there's definitely something for everyone (Asian ready meals, fish dishes, Mongolian barbeque, sushi, deep-fried dishes, as well as desserts with fruit, cake, jelly, ice cream both balls and soft ice cream and coffee). We were very impressed with the level and how good most of it tasted. Of course there will be something here and there that you don't like. The heat lamps are good and keep the food satisfactorily warm, while the refrigerators kept the fruit, cake and jelly chilled and fresh. We tried many different elements in our party, but each of us probably only got to 1/3 of what we wanted to try, so there is definitely a good reason to come back. We were very impressed with the ready meals and Mongolian barbeque (especially the giant shrimp) and the amount of fresh meat, fish and seafood to choose from. The least impressive was the ice cream, although there were some good varieties among them, especially soft ice cream and crumble. But bonus with chocolate fontaine. Overall I would give the food 4.5 out of 5 and is definitely worth the price. It is a little more expensive than similar places, BUT you get better tasting food and a larger selection (evening buffet approx. 290 + drinks).

23/08/2026: I was there for brunch on a Saturday. The food was nice, but it was a bit strange that the pizza buffet consisted of two pizzas, which were placed in a different place in the room than the rest of the buffet. I would immediately describe the buffet as ‘tapas with pizza’, so it was honestly bizarre that the restaurant insists on serving scrambled eggs to the table. It was nice that juice was included in the buffet and the juice was good, but I really missed a glass of water. The plate at my seat was dirty - but luckily you can get a new one at the buffet.

22/08/2026: Food was good, service was decent and good atmosphere. We did order focaccia, however it never arrived. Although not a huge problem.

11/07/2026: Professionalism Is What Happens When Things Almost Go Wrong People often judge hotels by what happens when everything goes according to plan. I don’t. I judge them by what happens when they think something has gone wrong. Some time ago, mu wife and I were enjoying the seven-course tasting menu when, after the third course, I jokingly remarked that it had been a rather small piece of meat. A few moments later the waiter asked whether everything was alright. My wife smiled and said everything tasted wonderful, but that I might have been hoping for a little more meat. The waiter quietly nodded and disappeared. A couple of minutes later he returned with the head waiter. Suddenly our table became the centre of a perfectly choreographed operation. Plates disappeared. New plates arrived. Steak knives appeared from nowhere. The table was reset with almost military precision. It was obvious they were preparing to serve me a complimentary beef tenderloin. I was genuinely impressed. Then reality caught up with all of us. We hadn’t even reached the main course yet. The “small piece of meat” had simply been course number three. The actual main course—a magnificent quail—was still on its way. We all laughed, the table was restored, and dinner continued as if nothing had happened. But here’s the thing. I’ve spent much of my career working with large organisations and complex projects. What impressed me wasn’t the misunderstanding. It was the response. Nobody argued. Nobody tried to explain why I was wrong. Nobody waited for a manager’s approval. Their instinct was simply: “A guest might leave disappointed. Let’s fix it immediately.” You cannot fake that. That isn’t good service. That’s culture. The food was outstanding. The setting is beautiful. But the professionalism of the team is what I still remember. That’s rare.

09/06/2026: Was at a conference with overnight stay. Beautiful hotel with an atmosphere of the "old" days with nice decor. Service was faultless and the room was nice and clean. There are also good parking options close to the hotel at a reasonable price. Or free a few minutes walk away.

19/08/2026: Broken glass in the lemonade and a worm in the soda... No replacement for them. Dry burger bun, and long wait times...

19/08/2026: We found broken glass in one soda and a caterpillar in the other soda… They didn't remove the sodas from the bill, which I think would have been nice. Otherwise, great food

08/08/2026: There are not many places to buy aquarium fish in North Zealand, but Plantorama in Hillerød has a good selection and competent service in the department.

30/07/2026: Really disappointing experience. I bought 3 x fig trees for 600 kr. in total at the beginning of spring. July now and not a single one of them has grown so much as a single leaf, they are dead plants we have been sold. Deeply disappointing experience, especially when we talked to the gardener on site when we wanted to buy and in connection with which variety we should choose and were assured that we would probably get fine trees no matter if it was Bornholm fig or Røsnæs. Contact by email with Plantorama gave nothing - we were told we had to go over to the garden center and talk to a gardener there... It was a waste of money. And one of the rabbits there looked very stressed and was constantly jumping around in agitation. It was clearly stressed by the cramped space. I don't think it is appropriate that in 2026 you sell live animals in stores like that in small cages.

05/12/2025: When I travel around the world, I often visit Indian restaurants. Wherever you are, whether it's Cape Town, Melbourne, Krakow, or Copenhagen, you can always find the same food there. You can only compare cleanliness, interior, service, spiciness, saltiness. And all kinds of food modifications or light interpretations. And here is Rasoi in Copenhagen. Excellent, tasty, fast, interesting. And that beer ... If there is no Kingfisher in an Indian restaurant, then ... a problem 😀 Thank you, I will come to stop by again.
