31/08/2026: The only downside is that people had to sit and smoke outside where we ate. Luckily only one person did that. Other than that, the food, service, waiting time, prices.... were fantastic. It was really good and perfect for what we needed after a long day. 👍

30/08/2026: It's perfectly fine if you need a quick snack or fries or burgers for the kids. The cappuccino is okay, and dogs are allowed on the terrace.

25/08/2026: Quaint and pleasant place with unpretentious food. The avocado toast said it had hummus but you could only guess. The tapa of fries were frozen. The best... the chocolate hazelnut cake.

14/08/2026: Cosy restaurant decorated to perfectly match the dishes it offers. The two of us ordered a Smørrebrød selection of 10 small dishes from the chef. More than enough for two, and everything was very flavorful and beautifully presented!

06/08/2026: 🥪🚂 Guldkalven Viborg – highly coated in just the right way 🚂🥪 Guldkalven is a bit of a special size. A semi-modern smørrebrød restaurant in an old train station, where for the almost suspiciously modest sum of around 150 kr. you can satisfy the Danish lunch hunger. I had heard both praise and criticism, so of course there was only one solution: The professional opinion machine had to get to work 😂🧐 I ordered the Kokkens Platte with mixed smørrebrød and a couple of confident Hancock sodas to wash down the survey with 🥤😎 And wait a minute – I was actually impressed. This is not a piece of rye bread with three sad slices of cold cuts thrown on top like a municipal lunch box from 1997 😂 Here is homemade rye bread, fresh ingredients and HIGHLY COATED smørrebrød 🥪🔥 Most of the pieces were really sharp, and you can clearly see that the kitchen actually cares about this. For the price, it's almost cheeky. I've paid significantly more for sandwiches that had about the same personality as a wet dishcloth 💸😅 The surroundings in the old train station also work surprisingly well 🚂 There's charm and authenticity, even if it gets a bit crowded and loud in some places – you almost risk knowing the pension plan of the person sitting next to you before you've finished your herring 😂 They're just missing the last 10% before I get up, bow deeply and give them five stars. But the direction is absolutely right, the price is really sharp, and the kitchen deserves a big nod of appreciation 👏 I'd love to come back – especially if you find the last 10%, because then the Golden Calf will really start to get horns 🐂😄 ⭐🥪🥪🥪🥪 4 out of 5 highly-covered sandwiches The fifth one is still standing on the platform waiting for the last little gastronomic train. 🚂😂

12/09/2026: We ordered three doner kebab plates and a dürüm to take away. Everything was delicious. Good portions. The price was reasonable. 👍🏼☺️ There's a German menu, and the man behind the counter speaks English, so communication was no problem at all. ☺️

24/09/2026: We came as a group of three and chose the Superb menu, and we were genuinely impressed. Every dish showed real finesse, especially the sauces, which were layered, balanced and clearly worked out with a lot of care. Across all four servings it felt like one well-rounded tasting experience rather than a series of separate plates. For an izakaya this is top level cooking. If you are tired of the usual sushi you find everywhere, KAZO is a refreshing alternative: Japanese technique, creative combinations and excellent ingredients. Absolutely recommended, we would come back anytime.

06/09/2026: Food - Miso soup was as salty as Sea water. Monkfish was good though. The rice on Maki seems like it came from the fridge, very dry and tough. Service - I dont have high expectations really. This isn't really a country where you get good service. Atmosphere - Very chill for a sunday. It's alright.

10/09/2026: Today it is Restaurant Søgaarden in Sunds near Herning that will test their steak sandwich with gravy. We arrived here at 4:57 pm and were immediately shown a table and actually ordered right away since we knew what we wanted. The food was served at our table exactly 5:12 pm and the first impression is that the steak sandwich looks a bit anonymous and lacks any decoration that can visually pull it up (in the advertisements from them it is decorated with fried onions). But the plate is hot and all the food is hot so it was great. The bun is a standard white brioche bun that tastes quite nice. The top bun is spread with quite a bit of mustard and a little ketchup, actually nicely balanced where it just scratches a little. The bottom bun is spread with a little remoulade. Both ketchup, mustard and remoulade do not taste homemade, but as I said, nicely balanced in terms of quantity. We specifically asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare to avoid misunderstandings, and oh my, it is just right, the steak is about 180-200 grams, it is cooked perfectly medium rare, so the meat almost melts in your mouth, it is perfectly seasoned and has a lovely crust, the meat is of really good quality and flavorful. The pickled water lilies (cucumbers) are home-pickled and taste wonderful, they were a little sweet in contrast to other places where they are often sour. The home-pickled beets also tasted great and had a nice bite, and they were cut into fine squares. The only complaint with the pickling was that it was perhaps a bit crazy to only put 3 pickled cucumbers in, give it a little gas. We also find a nice amount of homemade soft onions and they were sweet and tasted of more. 🧅In addition, there were some finely chopped raw onions and some roasted onions. Last but not least, we come to the sauce and let's say it right away, it tasted like birds singing, it had a deep umami flavor and there was plenty of it. The wife thinks it's one of the best sauces for a steak sandwich she's ever had and I'm inclined to agree with her. The waiter came by twice to ask about the food, which is fine, but the garnish, the fried onions, annoyed us a bit and the table next to us also got a steak sandwich and they were nicely garnished. So we politely chose to point this out, to which the answer was "no way", and that didn't happen again. Well, we end up with 4 out of 5 stars with a dash, the food is well-made, good ingredients and seasoned. The portion size is appropriate, so it's highly recommended to eat here. Now I've tried approx. 120 steak sandwiches in Denmark right from Capa, to Panorama over Ella and Kohalen and the last thing missing here at Søgaarden is a special bun, a relish or a homemade compote that just makes you say wow. DKK 198.- tjo good ingredients cost and people have to get paid, it must also be said that mayo and a portion of fine fries are included. Thanks for the food, you can easily be familiar with that.

22/08/2026: If you're looking for a quiet campsite, this isn't the place. There are loud parties in the restaurant almost every weekend. It's okay during the week, but on weekends it's really only for partygoers.

30/11/2025: Definitely a place we would like to come again, really nice room with private bathroom and toilet, super nice service, incredibly nice people, nice little breakfast buffet, and a nice menu card. Best recommendations from here.

14/10/2025: Was excellent rated, It wasnt worthy. We had to wait in the night. All was extremely dark and creepy. Rooms too narrow. The host wasnt nice.

14/04/2026: Great place to stay, you are transported to another time because everything is so well preserved and functional. The breakfast is a chapter in itself, really delicious and manageable. We will be back 🙂
