12/11/2024: It was a very unique experience, and my first exposure to ultra fine dining both in general and in Copenhagen. It's best to go in with no preconceived notions and really lean into the theater and spectacle of it all. It's a dinner like none other and a singular dining memory for sure. The presentation and scope of the impressions was very maximalist, which some of my party felt was somewhat unfocused and not quite cohesive, but I think it was appropriate for the overall feeling and encounter. Pairing generally was quite good with the dishes, and every one was very enjoyable. That being said, there were several dishes that triggered my allergies, most likely dairy protein, and by the end of the night my lips had swelled almost comically, and my throat was really uncomfortable. The staff assured me that every precaution had been undertaken, and they were very apologetic about it, but said there was absolutely no chance of contamination. I took another allergen blood test afterward which confirmed that all of my allergies were still identical to what I knew (and which I had informed the kitchen beforehand). As a result, I unfortunately just cannot give it a full rating. I also had the wonderful opportunity to dine at Jatak, Alouette, Kadeau, and miscellaneous other restaurants while in Copenhagen, and this was the only place at which I experienced multiple serious allergic reactions. The other restaurants also did substitutions, e.g. non-dairy chocolate, but I didn't have any allergic reactions whatsoever at the other establishments. My only conclusion is that there must be some level of contamination, there is mislabeling by a supplier, or there is a misunderstanding (it was unclear but it seemed like there might have been misinterpretation of milk protein allergy vs lactose-free). Unfortunately, there was also no responsibility taken at the location nor after I sent a follow-up email, which was disappointing; I understand the trust in the kitchen, but as a diner the experience left me seriously uncomfortable for several days and a bit traumatized on fine dining (thankfully by the end of my trip my faith had been restored). I'm not a confrontational person, so it pained me even to bring anything up. It was genuinely shocking to me as by far the most I'd ever spent on a meal (I'd been saving up all year for this trip), just to leave with a swollen mouth/throat that really marred my memory. Just thought I'd share for anybody else with significant allergies, I debated writing anything for a while but thought I'd be remiss not to say something.

17/11/2024: We ate very well in this typical Danish restaurant! Special mention for the starters, which are incredible! The atmosphere is cozy and the owner is friendly and talkative 😉 I warmly recommend the Komplet restaurant!

What keeps it exciting is their ever-changing selection of flavors, with new ones popping up from time to time. I also highly recommend trying their amazing milkshakes. The staff is always friendly and provides excellent service, making each visit a great experience. “best ice cream in Copenhagen”

27/09/2024: Not quite as "authentic" a la old-fashioned dairy, as their branch in Søborg, where there are also tiles on the walls... But it was nice to be there and talk over cappuccinos with a friend.

01/11/2024: My favorite restaurant in the world. Food is outstanding with a unique Nordic Asian style of Chef Eric. Wife and front of house Tina is also remarkable. The rosette Waffel is the greatest dish I have ever tasted. Worth a visit on its own. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

22/11/2024: This is the real deal - a pub run by Irish people but with a very respectful nod towards the traditions of a Danish style "old pub". The staff are excellent and the pub hosts probably the best Sunday music sessions going. And the Guinness - it rivals some of the best pints you can get in Ireland - and that is saying something! Well worth a visit.

02/11/2024: An experience more than an eating place. We visited on a Friday evening after a draining week, and we left feeling happy. Casual, fun and lighthearted, a very welcome twist to what we expacted.

29/10/2024: The most outstanding and phenomenal gastronomic experience I have ever had!!! Our main server-there were others- was from San Marino and was amazing!!!! Each course was such an aesthetically beautiful presentation and so flavorful! (I’m a foodie and I was blow away). Thank you for such an amazing experience!

27/10/2024: Our favorite in town. Never have tried Cambodian food before but this time, it was the highlight of our trip. Cozy little restaurant owned by an old couple. Comfort foods. We ordered Luklak - stir fried beef with rice and noodle soup. Both of them were very good 😊 Will definitely come back ❤️

26/10/2024: Usual tired Asian restaurants with questionable food but good enough for proper who never had proper Asian food. Food was sad, even the spring roll was subpar.

19/11/2024: We had an excellent experience! We visited for lunch and left thoroughly impressed. Every dish we tried was both delicious and unique—there wasn’t a single plate we didn’t love or found mediocre. Our waitress, Emilia, was exceptionally warm and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. If there’s one thing that could be improved, it would be the strong smell in the restaurant. The food aromas were quite intense and the air-con/ventilation system was not working and making it feel like we were sitting very close to the kitchen.

18/11/2024: Super nice evening and really well prepared food and wine at a very fair price. Service was actually quite good and the waiter was very service minded and friendly. Will definitely come again for food/wine etc. The downer for me was the rather aggressive tip nudging, where the waiter himself entered DKK 100 into the dankort machine "to show an example of how tipping works", then deletes the amount and hands you the machine , so that I could enter the amount of tip I want to give myself. Tipping is a controversial topic. GROWTH supports American conditions with this behavior and I don't think that's really quite right. I have nothing against tipping, but in DK it should continue to be 100% unsolicited and something you feel like giving as a customer because you feel you have received a service that is beyond what you expect. Not because you are encouraged to do so with examples from the waiter.
