02/05/2026: Cafe Malmø in Copenhagen is a proper old-school Danish morning pub that refuses to follow any modern trends – and that’s exactly why it works. This is a no-frills establishment where the atmosphere is thick with history and a hint of yesterday’s smoke. From the early hours you’ll often find a colorful mix of locals and slightly shady characters nursing their morning beers, giving the place an authentic, almost cinematic edge. The interior is classic and well-worn in the best possible way. There’s a beautiful old billiard table (the proper smaller Danish kind, not American pool) that has seen better days but still delivers plenty of entertainment. No pretentious decor, no craft beer nonsense – just solid, reasonably priced pints and a straightforward selection that matches the unassuming vibe perfectly. Prices are fair and far from the snobby levels you see in many other places these days. Cafe Malmø isn’t trying to be Instagram-friendly or cozy for everyone. It’s a raw, iconic slice of real Danish pub culture. Whether it feels wonderfully hyggelig or slightly sketchy depends entirely on who you are and what you’re looking for. If you appreciate unpolished authenticity and places with real character, this little gem is hard to beat.

29/04/2026: Fantastic basement pub, brown pub fittings with eclectic decor and cosy surroundings. Usual basic drinks selection, typical prices for the district. Lived in, charming and interesting. I wish it long life.

19/08/2026: We came - two married couples - from Norway with high expectations for this restaurant. However, we were greeted by a very rude and insolent employee (or was he the manager of the place?) who in no way welcomed us. Quite the opposite, which I could write a lot about, but I'll leave it at that. However, I cannot recommend anyone to visit the place after our very negative experience. This was in the middle of July this summer (2026)

12/08/2026: Classic place with a long history when you read about the restaurant. We ordered two different sandwiches, one with roast beef and one with beef. Both were good and tasted good.

15/08/2026: fried wide noodles are to die for. phad thai is also amazing. You get food at a very fair price.

30/05/2026: Good food, good service. We were 3 people. Took 2x menu and 1x starter + 1x main course really a lot of food for the money on menus. Can be recommended but must be ordered by min.2 people.

20/08/2026: They have wonderfully delicious pizzas, I recommend them to everyone, I will definitely try these delicious pizzas again soon.

24/06/2026: The chef was formerly a Michelin-starred restaurant chef who started his own business, pairing each dish with a different wine, from appetizers to desserts. He served only one group of clients that evening.

12/06/2026: Really good lunch place and service but surprised that the prices of the food are not shown on the menu on site. Therefore only 4 stars overall

25/05/2026: Compared to other smørrebrød restaurants, this is a bit of a tourist trap. The food is ok, but definitely not in line with similar places like Kronborg, færgecafe or Gammeltorv. There were no prices on the menu (tourist trap), there were only four types of beer (all generic Carlsberg), and there were no “special and foreign schnapps” as they advertise, including in the folder you get the bill in. It is obviously all a lie. In addition, the waiters had to be moved quite regularly to, among other things, give us menus and bring us our ordered drinks.

31/12/2025: Amazing ramen! We waited for about ten minutes before getting a table and it was very crowded. The vegetarian ramen were absolutely delicious

11/08/2026: We stumbled upon this restaurant as a family during our visit to Copenhagen. It was a pleasant surprise; the owner and his son were incredibly friendly, and everyone in the family enjoyed the food. The owner speaks French, so we were able to converse in our language, which was a real plus. The prices were affordable, and it offered excellent value for money.

07/07/2026: Tasty and generous portions. The roasted duck was delicious! The staff is very kind and the restaurant in general is comfy, clean and you can talk easily.

07/08/2026: The restaurant is a good quality place to get sushi, we got ad libitum quickly served with liquid nitrogen poured over it, it was really cool. The waiter was cute.

07/08/2026: Very nice choice of danish "smørbrød" ,tasty and reasonable price, friendly service. Sitting area was clean and goos place, but was not 100% family friendly as there were no child chairs.

03/08/2026: We were looking for a place to try the famous Danish smørrebrød and ended up at Magasin du Nord, where we found Hallernes Smørrebrød. Excellent product, top quality. Wide selection for all tastes. Fair prices, consistent with Copenhagen standards. An excellent experience, highly recommended. Inside the department store, there are two stores: a small one on the basement level and a larger one, where we went, on the fifth floor.

25/08/2026: It may be that the standard has dropped a bit due to new owners, but it's still a good place to get a quick meal for cheap money.

18/08/2026: It was a bad experience. I had imagined a pork roast sandwich, but when I saw the pork roast being heated up on the pan, I quickly changed my mind to a bacon cheese burger and a small french fries with mayo. The burger was just not what I'm used to, and the french fries were more like mashed potatoes, and the cup of salad mayo was only half full. It's not what it used to be, but on the other hand, the price has gone up a lot. It's been a good two years since I was last there, but after this experience, I have to find a new supplier.
