03/08/2025: There were 4 of us who shared a number of smaller dishes including artichoke, shrimp toast, flatbread with broccolini, squash and grilled spiny lobster. The dishes were tasty with a good variety of ingredients and spices. Cozy atmosphere and very friendly staff. We tried a nice white wine from Bogense.

25/07/2025: Fine dining without a set menu, guests can choose from a lovely selection of snacks, starters, appetizers, first courses, main courses, and desserts. Great ambiance, attentive service, and high-quality ingredients. Excellent!

24/10/2025: A gem in Esbjerg city. The sweetest hosts and the warmest, most wonderful place. Definitely worth a visit, whether you have lived here for a long time, are a tourist or on a short visit.

24/10/2025: Smuthullet is far more than just a university bar; it is the definitive social hub of Aalborg University Esbjerg. With traditions stretching back over 50 years, this legendary spot has earned its title as the heart and brain of the university, serving as the crucible where friendships are forged, study groups are saved by caffeine (and maybe something stronger), and future engineers and scientists celebrate their milestones. ​Walking into Smuthullet is stepping into a piece of campus history. It offers a warm, low-key atmosphere that stands in contrast to the intense focus of academic life. It's the place where the theoretical becomes practical—where students from every discipline meet, network, and, most importantly, relax. Its enduring legacy is built on its volunteer-run nature and its commitment to being a constant, reliable presence for generations of students. ​And of course, no mention of Smuthullet would be complete without acknowledging one of its most famous (and possibly true) legends: the story of the Finnish student. The tale goes that a visiting Finnish exchange student holds the unbroken, semi-official record for the most drinks consumed in a single semester. Whether fact or campus folklore, it’s a story proudly shared over a cold beer, solidifying Smuthullet's status as a place where legends are born—and occasionally remembered the next morning. It remains the essential gathering spot, defining the true student experience at AAU Esbjerg.

23/10/2025: Stopped by and chose a rib steak sandwich. Thought, "I'll just have a waiting sausage!". I regretted that when I got my rib steak sandwich, because it was quite a meal. 2 pieces. 1-1.5 cm thick slices, super tender and with the crispiest skin. 5 BIG stars from here.

08/09/2025: ** Follow-up: We have subsequently received a friendly apology from the restaurant. We appreciate that they respond to our review, and we are therefore happy to give the place another chance. We had a really disappointing experience here. The food was OK, but the service was both slow and inattentive. The worst thing, however, was that we ordered a bottle of rosé, which was put on the table at room temperature! As you know, a rosé should be served at around 6 degrees and of course not lukewarm. Only after we had been served the food did the bottle come back in an ice bucket, and for obvious reasons the contents of the bottle never got anywhere near the correct temperature. When I pointed this out at the checkout, the explanation was simply that they had no more in the fridge. In my opinion, this is completely unsatisfactory, you should always inform the customer so that they can choose another wine or accept a warm bottle on ice. The whole thing ended with an indifferent shrug of the shoulders instead of an apology. We have no desire to come back.

08/09/2025: We had been there for dinner after visiting Lego House in Billund with our kids. Reservation was convenient via Google while still being at Lego House. We had Pizzas and salad and everything was really delicious. Their ingredients are mostly exclusive production from Italy. It really tasted wonderful, especially the Pizza Salami. Pricing was also reasonable. Service was polite and prompt. All in all a great restaurant, except for the toilets, which could have been cleaner.

02/11/2025: It was surprisingly cozy considering the large space. Beautiful place. And we had delicious food and good wine. Afterwards we came back and enjoyed cocktails, wine and beer. Super nice place.

02/10/2025: You have to look for something that tastes like dog food. The fried potatoes were half-cooked, served with the skin on in a bowl of melted butter! But not fried in any way. The mushroom sauce had almost no mushrooms but lots of flour. The meat was half-dry and boring. And so it went on. It was indescribably bad. Most highway cafeterias do better.

24/11/2025: A pleasant, small place in a larger location, with several cuisines to choose from. The wonton soup was very tasty. The portion was also large. The woksteg was tasty, but very salty.

03/09/2025: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mary’s Pizza & Grill is absolutely fantastic! The pizzas are delicious – perfectly baked with fresh ingredients and full of flavor. Nothing is missing, every bite is satisfying. On top of that, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommended if you want great food and great service!

03/12/2025: I was part of a larger group and we all left the table hungry. The food was not freshly prepared (is our assessment) and although we all got the same, some people's dishes were lukewarm and others' dishes were refrigerator cold. A few people found hair in their food. Unfortunately, it was both the first and last visit. The wait staff was nice and accommodating.
